The participants of this year's "Peace March," A long walk in memory of the victims of the Srebrenica genocide against Bosniaks and its surroundings in the summer of 1995, are arriving in Nezuk near Sapna.
The Head of the “Peace March” sub-committee, Suljo Cakanovic, previously said that the route was fully prepared and safe.
“This is the 20th anniversary of the first Peace March and the main message is a message of peace to honour the innocent victims of the July 1995 genocide. Logistical support is up to the task with the Armed Forces of Bosnia and Herzegovina, as well as the FBiH Civil Protection Administration and the Red Cross, as well as the health institutions of Tuzla and Sarajevo Cantons. The Zepa-Potocari peace march will start on July 9 and we will all enter the cemetery of the Srebrenica Memorial Center in Potocari on July 10,” said Cakanovic.
This year's Peace March, he said, will be attended by a large number of young participants.
“Third and fourth-grade high school students from Sarajevo will also take part in the March with the help from Sarajevo Canton's Ministry of Education. There will be many young people on the march, which gives us hope that they will continue with the activities of the Peace March. A large number of our citizens organized the Peace March in Europe and the world where they live. I have information that a march happened in London and Paris, and in many other cities,” says Cakanovic.
According to him, the motorcycle marathon, bicycle marathon and ultra-marathon are also expected to arrive at Potočari on July 10.
As in previous years, history lessons will be held at certain locations for the participants of the Peace March. This year, the history lesson will be held in the section of Kamenjacka Bukva.
In the coming days, the march participants will follow the route that the people of Srebrenica made trying to reach the free territory – Tuzla or Kladanj, in the summer of 1995.
