The Peace Implementation Council is scheduled to meet on Wednesday and Thursday to decide on the appointment of a new High Representative and the scope of their mandates.

This session follows the resignation of Christian Schmidt from the position of High Representative one month ago. The PIC Steering Board consists of 10 active members, with the European Union being the largest donor to the Office of the High Representative, positioning it as one of the most influential members.

Alongside the EU, the United States and Japan provide substantial funding. The United Kingdom, Canada, and the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation, represented by Turkey, contribute with a share of less than 10 percent.

PIC members primarily aim to reach decisions based on consensus, a unanimous vote is not strictly required. The key priority for the PIC is that the new candidate secures broad support, though the exact number of required votes remains unspecified.
