Russian Ambassador to Bosnia and Herzegovina Igor Kalabukhov described, on Tuesday, the decision of President Vladimir Putin to recognize Donetsk and Luhansk's independence from Ukraine as Ukraine.
Kalabukhov recalled that he was from Donetsk himself.
“You’ve heard of President Putin's decision. For me, it is of special importance because I am from Donetsk and I think it’s a historic day for Russia and the people of Donetsk and Lugansk. I think everything will be fine. As a diplomat, I want to say that this is the moment when serious negotiations must begin to create a security system in Europe that will be safe for every country and people,” Kalabukhov said briefly after a meeting with Bosnia’s Serb member of the tripartite Presidency Milorad Dodik.
Dodik said that BiH must remain “neutral” in connection with the Ukrainian crisis.
Also, Dodik rejected the views of the other two colleagues from the Presidency, Zeljko Komsic and Sefik Dzaferovic who condemned Russia’s move.
He concluded that it was ridiculous to accuse Russia of violating international law by recognizing Donetsk and Luhansk, especially when those who recognized Kosovo were doing the same thing.
