As N1 previously announced, Sebija Izetbegovic was dismissed before the end of her tenure as General Manager of the Sarajevo University Clinical Centre (KCUS), i.e. before January 09, 2024, due to the loss of the status of a medical faculty teacher in the rank of full or part-time professor.
The KCUS Management Board explained in detail the unsuccessful attempts to deliver the documentation proving dr. Sebija Izetbegovic’s status, in their dismissal decision.
It is stated, among other things, that it was established that Izetbegovic does not have the appropriate title to perform the function.
“The director of a health institution must have a medical, dental or pharmaceutical faculty diploma, at least five years of work experience in the profession, knowledge of health management, which is proven by a certificate of completed education in health management, i.e. a completed specialization in health management or a completed post-graduate study in health management, and they must fulfil other conditions prescribed by the founding act, i.e. the statute.” the decision states.
In the mean time, this position will be performed by the acting General Manager, primarius dr. sc. Med. Alen Pilav. A general surgery specialist and thoracic surgery subspecialist.
“I am a surgeon by profession, the KCUS has been my home for 30 years. I've always wanted to be a surgeon, that's my approach to work as well. We need to look forward”, said the acting General Manager.
He used the opportunity to thank the Management Board for giving him the opportunity to help transform the KCUS.
“We are going ahead with the opening of the Clinical Centre. I want the KCUS to once again be a centre where patients will want to come for treatment. I want to return the KCUS to where it belongs, as one of the best hospitals in the region,” Pilav said.
