In the past 24 hours, 93 coronavirus cases and one COVID death have been registered in Slovenia, its government said on Saturday.
According to official data, there are 831 active cases, the seven-day incidence is 63 per 100,000 population and the 14-day incidence is 39.
Compared with seven days ago, there is a 52% jump in daily new cases, their highest number this week except on Tuesday, when there were 110.
The share of positive tests has also gone up and is now 5%.
To date, 37.4% of the population has been fully vaccinated, which is deemed insufficient to protect people from a possible autumn coronavirus wave and the more dangerous Delta variant.
That's why the government is imposing new rules and restrictions. As of Monday, persons who have not been vaccinated or recovered from COVID and those without a negative test result will not be allowed in restaurants, casinos and tourist accommodation or at outdoor events with a lot of people.
The national statistical office said on Friday that after 1945, 2020 saw the highest death-to-birth ratio, with 5,249 more deaths than births, which was mostly due to above-average mortality in November and December during the second COVID wave.
Slovenia's official COVID death toll is 4,427.
