An investigation has concluded in Bosanska Krupa, Bosnia and Herzegovina, following a violent incident in which a minor attacked a police station, killing one officer and severely wounding another. The crime has been classified as an act of terrorism, police confirmed to N1.
Officials are set to meet at 8 am in Bihac to discuss security measures in response to the attack. The meeting, organized by the Coordination Body, will include representatives from the Ministry of the Interior and the police administration, along with the Prime Minister of Una-Sana Canton.
The incident occurred late last night when a 14-year-old (born in 2009) entered the police station in Bosanska Krupa and fatally stabbed Officer Ozren Maran. Maran’s colleague, Avdo Hasanovic, was critically injured and is currently in stable condition at Dr. Irfan Ljubijankic Cantonal Hospital.
The minor was taken into custody immediately following the attack and remains under police supervision. In response, authorities heightened security in Bosanska Krupa, deploying a significant police presence across the area throughout the night.
Armin Halitovic, Mayor of Bosanska Krupa, joined local officials on-site shortly after the incident. Expressing shock, he described the event as deeply unsettling for the normally peaceful community.
“We are a tolerant and calm city; this has shocked us all. We simply cannot believe this happened in Bosanska Krupa—a place without significant issues,” he said, adding that he hopes for a thorough investigation by authorities.
Enhanced security measures remain in place as authorities seek to understand the motives and ensure community safety.
