The Imamovic's from Donja Jablanica lost eight of their loved ones in the devastating flash floods that struck large parts of Bosnia and Herzegovina on Friday.
This was confirmed by Duska Jurisic, Deputy Minister for Human Rights and Refugees of BiH, who shared the family's story on Facebook.
“The horror of the torrent, which carried huge amounts of stones, was replaced by disbelief, as the houses of his sister and brother were swept off the face of the earth. In just one moment, they lost eight family members. They cannot recover from the shock, especially since they participated in the search under the ruins and found the lifeless bodies of their loved ones,” she posted.
She also shared the story of Amra and Semir Jahic:
“Thanks to Amra's incredible composure, the life of their son, Semir, and the lives of several neighbours, who sought refuge in their house, were saved”, she wrote, explaining how Amra Jahic swam hundreds of meters carrying her four-year-old to safety.
