Following the delegation's arrival, Srebrenica Memorial Centre Director Emir Suljagic met with the lawmakers and described the visit as a vital demonstration of solidarity.

"Today we had a great visit. Two longtime friends of the Srebrenica Memorial Centre came to once again show their support at these difficult times," Suljagic stated, emphasizing that both senators have remained steadfast allies of the institution. "We are immensely grateful for their solidarity, friendship and continued support. Thank you for standing with us."

The high-level visit forms part of a multi-day official itinerary in Bosnia. Earlier in Sarajevo, Senators Shaheen and Durbin met with the Chair of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Denis Becirovic, to discuss bilateral security and diplomatic alignment. Discussions focused on the ongoing necessity of US backing to safeguard the territorial integrity and constitutional framework of Bosnia and Herzegovina while accelerating its integration into NATO and the European Union.

During her time in the capital, Senator Shaheen was formally awarded honorary citizenship of Sarajevo in recognition of her sustained legislative commitment to Bosnia's stability and economic development.
