US Deputy Assistant Secretary and special envoy for the Western Balkans Gabriel Escobar visited the Srebrenica-Potocari Memorial Centre on Tuesday, paying respects to the victims of genocide and meeting the associations of victims' families. He was accompanied by US Ambassador to BiH Michael Murphy.

“The United States remains committed to Srebrenica and its residents, and we support Bosnia and Herzegovina on its Euro-Atlantic path,” the US Embassy posted on X (formerly Twitter) following the visit.

The officials also said that the stories of the Mothers of Srebrenica “underscored the importance of supporting the survivors and helping those working to preserve the memory of the victims.”

Escobar arrived in BiH on Monday to discuss current political situation “in light of the escalating attacks on the Dayton Peace Agreement, BiH's constitutional order and the state of BiH,” the embassy announced a day ago.
