The Association of Victims and Witnesses of Genocide called on prosecutors to investigate the President of BiH’s Republika Srpska (RS) entity, Milorad Dodik, and the President of neighbouring Serbia, Aleksandar Vucic, for denying the Srebrenica genocide and verdicts by international courts regarding the matter in controversial statements they made during their visit to Mostar on Monday. “The denial of the crimes in their statements, but also the barrage of insults against journalists, especially expressed toward the N1 TV journalist, must lead to the involvement of the competent authorities and an investigation, otherwise the vocabulary of the primitives will become a practice, and the humiliation of the victims and everyone else will become a model”, the association said.

During their visit to Mostar, Vucic and Dodik objected to the expected adoption of the Resolution on the genocide in Srebrenica in the UN General Assembly and were filmed commenting about the N1 reporter covering the event, whom Dodik called a “cow”.

The association asked the BiH Justice Ministry to inform the International Court of Justice (ICJ) and the UN about the denial of the ICJ verdict from February 2007 by the President of Serbia on the territory of BiH. According to that verdict, Serbia is responsible for the failure to prevent the genocide in Srebrenica.

“Before the International Court of Justice, it was established that Serbia is in no way responsible for the alleged genocide in Srebrenica,” Vucic said in Mostar.

The associations say that, in this way, the President of Serbia violated the Criminal Code of BiH, which was amended by a Decision of the former High Representative of the international community in the country who banned the denial of judgments of international and domestic courts and the denial of crimes of genocide and crimes against humanity.

The draft resolution declaring July 11 as the International Day of Remembrance of the Genocide in Srebrenica will be presented on Wednesday at a closed meeting at the UN.
