The locals of Jablanica and Konjica joined forces and continued the cleaning operation of the Jablanicko lake, which was filled with garbage and waste after devastating floods and landslides.

According to Haris Cosic from the “Visit Jablanica” organization, who organized the action, the clearing is conducted at three locations – Ostrozac, Paprasko and Brana.

There are about 50 volunteers in Ostrozac, 80 in Paprask, and there will be slightly less at the Dam.

“Yesterday we collected three trucks of debris, today there will be less due to the inaccessibility of the terrain. We go on rafts to collect trash, so it will take time. The team from Konjic arrived with quads to help us get the heavy stuff, large pieces out. We’ll continue to clean the lake,” Cosic said.

He added that they also tried to clean the part in Buturovic Polje, but that it was not effective because they made their way with rafts, and it took them 20 minutes for just one bag of debris.

“The Jablanicko Lake can’t be cleaned of all its debris, but we will surely engage the citizens and perhaps some institutions to do something about the Lake, but also other lakes and rivers that had illegal and major garbage dumps,” he concluded.
