Von der Leyen: Bosnia is fully aligned with EU's foreign and security policy

European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen on Thursday welcomed the "historic decision" to open negotiations with Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Von der Leyen stated that BiH has made impressive steps towards the European Union, repeating that “more progress was made in one year than in the previous decade.”

“Bosnia and Herzegovina is fully aligned with our foreign and security policy. We have seen progress in managing migration. Bosnia and Herzegovina has achieved significant progress in dialogue and reconciliation,” said the President of the European Commission.

Finally, von der Leyen expressed her hope that “today's decision will lead to even greater progress”.
