"Unlike others, we show respect and always bow deeply before the victims. That is our obligation, and in doing so we show that we are human," Vucic said while touring the final phase of works a municipal road near Leskovac.
Asked about the attack on him several years ago in Srebrenica while he was paying tribute to the victims, Vucic said that today is not the day for such questions but rather for showing respect.
He said those responsible for the attack on him would never be held accountable, claiming that the authorities in Sarajevo never wanted to uncover who was behind it.
"We know the names of the people who did it, some of them apologised to me," he added.
He also said that foreign officials never even raised the issue, adding: "It is permitted to attack the prime minister or president of Serbia. Anything against the Serbs is allowed; it is not allowed against anyone else, not even lynching."
Tens of thousands of people gathered today in Srebrenica to pay tribute to the victims of the genocide committed 31 years ago in the United Nations (UN)-protected enclave at the Potocari Memorial Centre. July 11 is also observed as the International Day of Reflection and Commemoration of the 1995 Genocide in Srebrenica.
