Beirut journalist warns of economic consequences of the main port's destruction

The country like Lebanon is relying on import but its major port, “the vein of economy,” is now gone, stressed Battah, warning that the already poor economy is facing further significant loss.
With the major port destroyed and three hospitals demolished in the explosion, the prices of goods going up and the Covid-19 crisis, the situation is likely to get worse in Lebanon no matter how bad it already looks like, warned the journalist.
Habib Battah is an investigative journalist and founder of the news site beirutreport.com. He lives and works in Lebanon.
