Eric Nelson, the US Ambassador to Bosnia and Herzegovina, welcomed on Saturday the US soldiers who arrived in the country for a bilateral military exercise, saying that this was important training for both the US Armed Forces and the Armed Forces of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Addressing the US soldiers at the Sarajevo International Airport, Nelson said this was more than just an exercise and that the soldiers will follow the steps of dozens of thousands of other soldiers who served in BiH.
“The Armed Forces you will be training with have become a credible partner, with whom you served in Afghanistan and other countries,” said Nelson.
The soldiers have arrived to take part in the Immediate Response military exercise, which is taking part at several locations across the country, which is associated with the large-scale US Army-led exercise Defender Europe.

The ambassador also said this was the largest ever exercise between the US and BiH.
“This is a wonderful country, I hope you will feel the hospitality of its citizens,” he added.
The soldiers were welcomed at the airport by Bosnia's Defence Minister Sifet Podzic, Deputy Chief of the Joint Staff Ivica Jerkic and NATO HQ Sarajevo Commander Eric Folkestad.
