The Court of BiH decided to issue an international arrest warrant for Milomir Savcic, who stands accused of involvement in the 1995 Srebrenica Genocide and seemingly escaped before he was to be taken into custody.
Prosecutors allege that Savcic, a former general who is now the head of the Veterans’ Association of Bosnia’s Serb-dominated Republika Srpska (RS) entity, was fully aware of the intention of the main perpetrators of the genocide to partially exterminate the national, ethnic and religious group of Bosniaks in Srebrenica and helped and supported the killing of male members of the Bosniak group.
Prosecutors asked for him to be taken into custody on Monday, arguing that he violated prohibitive measures by making statements about the charge against him to the media. The court agreed.
However, the officers did not find Savcic at his home address.
