The Border Police of Bosnia and Herzegovina, under the directive of Director Mirko Kupresakovic, has initiated an investigation into the border crossing of Milorad Dodik, President of Republika Srpska (RS). As stated in an official announcement, the inquiry seeks to uncover the circumstances and methods by which Dodik crossed the border between Bosnia and Herzegovina and Serbia.

The Border Police has notified the Prosecutor's Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina about the incident and is collaborating with all relevant law enforcement agencies. Operating independently within the Ministry of Security of Bosnia and Herzegovina, the Border Police is responsible for overseeing border crossings and other legally mandated duties. It has committed to taking all necessary measures to safeguard the state border and ensure national security.

In addition, the Border Police actively monitors border activities and implements measures aligned with legal regulations and operational plans. It continues to strengthen cooperation with other police agencies and neighbouring countries to combat illegal border crossings and cross-border crimes, including human trafficking, terrorism, drug smuggling, arms trade, and document forgery. These efforts aim to create a secure environment for the citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the region while advancing European standards and bolstering collective security.

Despite being the subject of a central detention warrant, RS President Milorad Dodik attended the “Day of Remembrance” in Batajnica near Belgrade, marking the anniversary of the NATO bombing. According to the warrant, Dodik is subject to arrest by any police officer in Bosnia and Herzegovina, including border police, making his border crossing seemingly impossible. Nevertheless, Dodik was present in Serbia, where he met with Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic.

The Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina has ordered one-month detention for Milorad Dodik, RS Prime Minister Radovan Viskovic, and RS National Assembly President Nenad Stevandic. This decision follows their failure to respond to summonses from the Prosecutor's Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina for questioning. The three are charged with undermining the constitutional order of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
