Alongside the Chairwoman of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Zeljka Cvijanovic, and Presidency member Denis Becirovic, the Chairwoman of the Council of Ministers of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Borjana Kristo, is also in the Vatican. All major electronic media in Bosnia and Herzegovina broadcast live scenes from Rome on Saturday, devoting the greatest possible attention to the life of Pope Francis and the legacy of his pontificate.

At the Sacred Heart Cathedral in Sarajevo, the Apostolic Nuncio to Bosnia and Herzegovina, Francis Assisi Chullikatt, led a requiem mass for the late Pope on Friday evening, concelebrated by the Archbishop of Sarajevo, Tomo Vuksic, the Archbishop Emeritus and Cardinal Vinko Puljic, and the Provincial of the Franciscan Province of Bosna Srebrena, Father Zdravko Dadic.

On this occasion, Nuncio Chullikatt stated that the Church is in deep mourning for the late Pope, like children who have suddenly been left orphaned, deprived of the gentleness, voice, and smile of the spiritual father who loved his Church with all his being, until his last breath.

"With his life, he knew how to touch consciences, awaken hearts, and illuminate the path for millions of people around the world. His passing represents an irreplaceable loss: an extraordinary shepherd, a man of God who led us with love, wisdom, tenderness, and, above all, humility for twelve years, has departed from us," said Nuncio Chullikatt.

Recalling the Pope's visit to Sarajevo in 2015, Archbishop Vuksic said that even today it is important to return to the messages he conveyed during his meeting with the clergy and religious.

"Always do the opposite of cruelty: cultivate tenderness, fraternity, forgiveness. And carry the cross of Jesus Christ. The Church, the Holy Mother Church, wants you like that: small, humble witnesses; in front of these small witnesses, little witnesses of the cross of Christ," said the Archbishop of Sarajevo.
