The Chairman of Bosnia’s tripartite Presidency and leader of the ruling party in the country’s Republika Srpska (RS) entity, Milorad Dodik, said that the entity parliament will be forming a team that would negotiate with representatives of the country’s other semi-autonomous entity, the Federation (FBiH), how BiH should be structured in order to make it more functional.

“This is our response to these statements from the FBiH, which constantly call for war,” he said.

“We must agree on how we will function,” he said on Tuesday, after meeting with leaders of political parties in the RS.

Dodik’s statements came after top officials in FBiH, most notably his two colleagues in the presidency, Bosniak Sefik Dzaferovic and Bosnian Croat Zeljko Komsic, strongly condemned an alleged non-paper on redrawing borders in the Western Balkans.

The document, published on Thursday by the Slovenian news portal necenzurirano.si, proposes Kosovo joining Albania and annexing parts Bosnia’s Serb-dominated Republika Srpska (RS) entity to Serbia while the country’s mostly Croat-populated parts would be annexed to Croatia.

It remains unclear who author the document and for what purpose.

Dzaferovic and Komsic said that such ideas would certainly lead to a war.

Dodik, however, argued that the best option for Bosnia is a “peaceful separation” of the RS entity.

“We will not go to war, we are not preparing for war,” he said, accusing his colleagues in the Presidency, as well as the leader of the stronger Bosniak ethnic political party in the country, Bakir izetbegovic, of warmongering.
