Citizens who attended the protests showed their strength and will to defend the Republika Srpska (RS) [entity] and I am very proud, RS President Milorad Dodik told RTRS after the protest gathered in opposition to BiH Prosecution’s indictment against him for not implementing the High Representative’s decisions in the territory of the RS.
He noted that citizens have the right to express their opinions, pointing out that there were 12,000 people in four locations across the RS.
“I want to say that there is a border, not an administrative line. It is clearly written in the Dayton Peace Agreement. There is a demarcation. That is my answer to what we heard from Sarajevo today,” said Dodik.
On Friday, the International community's High Representative in Bosnia and Herzegovina condemned attempts to display the inter-entity boundary line – an administrative line separating Bosnia's two entities, the Federation and the RS, as a line of separation, calling it a “cheap manipulation of citizens.”
“High Representative Christian Schmidt reminds that it is irresponsible to stage divisive political events at the Inter-Entity Boundary Line. The Inter-Entity Boundary Line is not a border between the RS and the FBiH, but purely administrative line,” the Office of the High Representative said in a statement posted on social platforms.
Dodik also said that there is a limit to such behaviour.
“If politicians from Sarajevo can accept that a foreigner comes and imposes laws outside the Constitution, then they do not respect the country in which they live. We don’t accept that,” Dodik said.
Bosnian Serb Presidency member and member of Dodik’s Alliance of Independent Social Democrats (SNSD) Zeljka Cvijanovic who attended the protest also threatened the public by saying that the protest rally on the entity line is just a rehearsal of what they may do if provoked.
“This is just a rehearsal for what can happen if they continue to harass us, and they harass us when they don't allow the Assembly and the president to do their job,” Cvijanovic stressed, adding that the RS President is being held accountable for a “non-existent crime created by an absent High Representative.”
