Milorad Dodik, the President of Bosnia's Republika Srpska entity, criticised US Ambassador Michael Murphy for his statements on Bosnia's state property and accused him of “unnecessarily interfering with internal affairs of Bosnia and Herzegovina.”
“Who are you anyway to talk about property and to interpret it. The issue of property was resolved with the Dayton Agreement and the Constitution of Bosnia and Herzegovina. Only the speculators like you could shape it in a way that this is the subject for High Representatives, and you yourself know that it is not, because your country is the guarantor of the Dayton Agreement,” said Dodik, referring to the peace deal that ended the 1992-95 Bosnian war and set up the country's constitutional system.
Dodik's statement comes a day after the US Embassy commented on the adoption of the Proposal Law on Immovable Property in Republika Srpska, stating that “Bosnia and Herzegovina is the titleholder of state property and the competence to regulate it falls within the exclusive responsibility of state-level institutions.”
“If you are unnecessarily interfering in the internal affairs of Bosnia and Herzegovina, then at least respect its Constitution. Apparently, that does not exist for you. You have your fake agenda and you want to turn your fake approach into rules. You love lecturing others. Only this kind of Bosnia and Herzegovina can be your refuge, otherwise, if it was even a serious country, it would have let you know long ago that you have gone too far and that it is best to continue your outbursts where you came from,” said Dodik, the Serb nationalist who is on the US list of sanctioned officials.
In reference to the law adopted in the entity parliament, Dodik said the Dayton Agreement clearly said that the property is owned by Republika Srpska and the Federation entities, “and this is not going to change regardless of what you and your fake High Representative and foreign judges in the Constitutional Court try to do.”
Dodik is a strong opponent of foreign representatives in this judicial institution and who does not recognise Christian Schmidt as international community's High Representative in BiH, who is also the final interpreter of the Dayton Agreement.
