According to a statement issued by the court, Cicak was found guilty of physically assaulting a Serb civilian in early May 1992 at a detention camp housed in the building of the former Yugoslav People's Army Hall, where he was serving as an HVO member.
''In one of the rooms on the upper floor, in the presence of S.M. and E.K., also HVO members, he interrogated detainee N.B. about his membership in the Serb Democratic Party (SDS) and his participation in fighting around Cardak near Derventa, asking why he had not joined the HVO and the Territorial Defence (TO) forces alongside them,'' the statement said.
The statement further said that the civilian was questioned about the whereabouts of weapons. During the interrogation, he was handcuffed to a radiator and beaten for two hours with fists, feet, a baton and a pistol butt on the head and other parts of his body, causing him to lose consciousness.
The verdict may be appealed to the Supreme Court of Republika Srpska, Detektor reports.
