The leader of one of the main opposition parties in Bosnia’s Republika Srpska (RS) entity, Mirko Sarovic, announced that he, as well as the entire leadership of the Serb Democratic Party (SDS), have resigned.
Sarovic announced the resignation following an SDS session where the results of the October 2 election were discussed.
“The discussion was long because we have the final results. This is the right time to announce some of our next steps. The opinion of all of us here is that the election results are bad, and that our expectations were much higher. But this is a realistic assessment and we are communicating it in this way,” he said, adding that, as the leader of the party, he carries the most responsibility for the situation.
“My decision is to resign, and all the members of the presidency have the same opinion. As of today, we are operating in a technical mandate,” Sarovic said.
