Firefighters continue battling wildfires near Mostar and Konjic

At Rujiste, firefighting crews have been working continuously to secure the fire site and extinguish the blaze, which has been burning since Saturday and has not yet been fully contained, the HNC Civil Protection Operations Centre said.

The situation remains particularly difficult in the Rakitnica River canyon, where the wildfire has been burning for a fifth consecutive day. Firefighting operations are being severely hampered by the steep and inaccessible terrain.

Personnel from the Konjic Professional Firefighting Unit (PVJ), the Konjic and Neretvica voluntary fire departments, and employees of the Konjic Forestry Company are engaged in efforts to bring the fires under control.
