The Speaker of Bosnia’s House of Peoples, Bakir Izetbegovic, told Chinese Ambassador, Ji Ping, that the conditions for closing down the office of BiH's international administrator have not been met, after the news emerged that China supports Russia’s proposal to end the post of High Representative by July next year.

The UN Security Council is set to meet on Thursday at 9 pm with Bosnia and Herzegovina as the only topic on the agenda.

The meeting comes days after the news emerged that Russia requested a vote in the UN Security Council on its draft resolution, also backed by China, which proposes an end to the post of the international administrator in BiH next year and immediately stripping the official of his special set of powers.

The High Representative of the international community in Bosnia is tasked with overseeing the civilian implementation of the 1995 Dayton Peace Agreement.
