Judicial police officers have been taken hostage at a butcher's shop in Bosnia's eastern town of Rudo, after they arrived in the morning to apprehend the owner at order of competent court, local media reported.

According to local media in Republika Srpska, Bosnia's entity where the town is located, authorities are working on a plan how to set the officers free.

Unofficially, the drama started when the officers came to the butcher to apprehend him at order of the Visegrad Basic Court.

“After they arrived, the owner (of the butcher's shop) started threatening with weapon and closed the shop, telling the officers the fence is electrified, so they could not leave,” an unidentified person told Srpska.info.

He said the butcher managed to escape through the back door and leave to the court in Visegrad, where he was immediately arrested.

The same source told the media outlet that workers of the shop are still refusing to let the officers go.

Director of Republika Srpska Judicial Police Zeljko Dragojevic said that the authorities are taking all measures to solve the situation.

No details of why the man was apprehended or how many officers are kept in the shop are known at the moment.
