Moderate growth: Bosnia’s average net salary reaches 1,680 marks in March

The average monthly paid net salary per employee in legal entities in Bosnia and Herzegovina stood at 1,680 Bosnian marks (approx. €859) in March this year. Compared to February, the average salary was nominally higher by 2.2 percent, while real growth reached 0.5 percent.

On an annual basis, the average net salary was nominally higher by 9.5 percent compared to March last year, with the real index rising by 4.2 percent over the same period, according to data from the Agency for Statistics of BiH.
Sectoral breakdown highlights financial and tech sectors
The highest average net salaries in March this year were recorded in the financial and insurance activities, reaching 2,303 marks (approx. €1,177). This was closely followed by the information and communication sector, where the average net salary amounted to 2,278 marks (approx €1,165).
Conversely, sectors with lower average earnings included accommodation, food preparation, and food service activities, where the average net salary was 1,169 marks (approx. €598). The construction sector recorded an average of 1,306 marks (approx €668), while the manufacturing industry saw an average of 1,384 marks (approx. €708).
Gross earnings follow upward trend
The average monthly gross salary per employee in Bosnia and Herzegovina for March this year was 2,610 marks (approx. €1,334). This represents a nominal increase of 2.2 percent and a real increase of 0.5 percent compared to February.
When compared to March last year, the average gross salary was nominally higher by 9.7 percent, while the real index for the same period increased by 4.4 percent.
