Newly elected Serb member of Bosnia's tripartite Presidency Zeljka Cvijanovic denied reports of some media outlets alleging that she tried to prevent the presence of a Ukrainian diplomat in the inaugural Presidency session scheduled for Wednesday.

“It is a lie that the newly elected member of the Presidency Zeljka Cvijanovic did not allow Ukraine's charge d'affaires Serhii Miniailo to attend the inaugural session of the new composition of the Presidency of BiH,” Cvijanovic's office said.

It further explained that only resident ambassadors have been invited to the ceremony as well as the chiefs of the diplomatic-consular offices in Sarajevo. This does not refer to Ukraine, whose ambassador in Zagreb covers Bosnia and Herzegovina.

“We have nothing against the presence of the representatives of Ukraine in the inaugural session of the Presidency of BiH but we do object the fake and malicious media articles, that are aimed at misinforming the public and destabilising the political situation in BiH,” the statement added.

The inaugural session is set to take place on Wednesday at 1 p.m.
