The Republika Srpska entity National Assembly's (RSNA) attempt to undermine the authority of the BiH Constitutional Court is an unacceptable offence against the Dayton Peace Agreement, a serious challenge to the rule of law in the RS, and an assault on the constitutional order of Bosnia and Herzegovina, the Office of the High Representative (OHR) tweeted Wednesday, in response to RS’ Law on the Non-Enforcement of Decisions of the Constitutional Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina which was adopted Tuesday evening.
“These decisions are illegal. [RS President] Milorad Dodik is first and foremost responsible for this. The RS has to respect its obligations under the Dayton Peace Agreement – this means fully respecting the constitutional and legal order of Bosnia and Herzegovina in accordance with Annex 4,” they wrote.
The High Representative Christian Schmidt offers political cooperation to all stakeholders in the RS, the tweet said, in order to help the RSNA fulfill its legal duty, under the condition of full compliance with the Dayton Peace Agreement.
“The first step can be the rejection of such bizarre and adventurous undermining of Dayton, and Dayton institutions, by Milorad Dodik. Our common priority is a prosperous future for all in BiH and making sure their will is reflected in the outcome of free democratic elections,” OHR concluded.
