The signal will be a continuous single tone lasting 60 seconds. Civil Protection authorities called on citizens to stop if they are moving during the broadcast, while drivers were asked to pull over if they are on the road, as a symbolic gesture of respect for the victims of the Srebrenica genocide.
The commemoration will take place as Bosnia and Herzegovina and the world remember more than 8,000 Bosniak victims killed during the genocide committed in July 1995.
Meanwhile, the excavation of graves for ten identified genocide victims began on Friday at the Srebrenica–Potocari Memorial Center. The victims will be buried on July 11 during the commemoration marking the 31st anniversary of the genocide.
Among those identified victims are people who were between 20 and 56 years old at the time of their deaths. So far, 6,772 genocide victims have been buried at the Srebrenica–Potocari Memorial Center.
