As long as Bosnia’s current political leaders are in power, especially tripartite Presidency Chairman, Milorad Dodik, BiH will have an international administrator, said the leader of one of the strongest opposition parties in Bosnia’s Republika Srpska (RS) entity, Mirko Sarovic.
The Peace Implementation Council (PIC), which oversees Bosnia’s peace process, formally appointed German politician Christian Schmidt to serve as the next High Representative in Bosnia and Herzegovina, the international official monitoring the civilian implementation of the 1995 Dayton Peace Agreement.
The President of Bosnia’s Republika Srpska (RS) entity, Zeljka Cvijanovic, said on Friday that the RS cannot accept this appointment, arguing that it is not in line with international law.
She made the statement following a meeting with the leaders of political parties that make up the ruling coalition in this entity.
Sarovic said that his Serb Democratic Party (SDS) was also invited, but did not attend.
He argued that a proper meeting between parties in the ruling RS coalition took place and that opposition parties were only invited later to join the conclusions that were already adopted.

He said that such an invitation was “indecent and humiliating.”
“In addition, the President of the Republika Srpska later arrogantly and tendentiously distorted and commented on our position on the meeting. I think that the president of RS should listen to everyone and hear those views that may be different,” said Sarovic.
Sarovic said that Bosnia can not be a member of the EU as long as there is an Office of the High Representative in the country.
He argued that Dodik, who is also the leader of the ruling party in the RS, “revived” the popularity of the outgoing High Representative, Austrian Diplomat Valentin Inzko and because of that “there will be a High Representative in this country for who knows how many more years.”
“The sooner we remove this government in RS, but also at the level of BiH, the sooner the high representatives will leave,” he said.
