Human rights activist Aida Corovic has been ordered to report to jail to serve a sentence for pelting eggs at a mural of Bosnian Serb war-time military chief and convicted war criminal Ratko Mladic.

Corovic threw eggs at the mural painted on an apartment building wall in central Belgrade following protests to remove the mural. She was arrested by plain clothes police who were at the scene. The mural was guarded by members of a football supporters club. The mural was removed after several weeks.

Corovic was held by the police for several hours before being released. She was sentenced for a misdemeanor and ordered to pay a fine of 100,000 Dinars (1 Euro – 117 Dinars) which she refused to do. The court replaced part of the fine with 60 days of jail and ordered her to pay the remaining 40,000 Dinars or have her assets seized.

She told N1 that she received the order to report to jail in 8 days on Thursday morning. She said she does not feel guilty because she was defending the law since Mladic is a convicted war criminal. She added that she is prepared to go to jail but would try to postpone the order.
