Serbia’s President Aleksandar Vucic arrived in Bosnia and Herzegovina and is set to hold a series of meetings with authorities in the country’s Republika Srpska (RS) entity throughout the next two days.
The first meeting began in the Osovica monastery near Srbac. Vucic met with RS President, Milorad Dodik, and with the Serbian Partiarch Porfirije, which is not part of the official protocol of the visit.
According to Tanjug, participants in the meeting are expected to discuss the situation in Kosovo and “the expectations of the major powers in the continuation of the dialogue between Belgrade and Pristina”.
One of the topics will reportedly also be the pressure on the leadership of Republika Srpska, which has been blacklisted by the USA, but also “attempts by certain Western countries and Bosniak political circles to accuse Banjaluka of dismantling the Dayton Agreement”.
The US recently blacklisted BiH Presidency member Zeljka Cvijanovic, Republika Srpska Prime Minister Radovan Viskovic, Srpska National Assembly Speaker Nenad Stevandic and Justice Minister Milos Bukejlovic, with the explanation that these officials violated the Dayton Peace Agreement. The sanctions came after the RS National Assembly adopted legislation according to which decisions of the state Constitutional Court will not be implemented in the semi-autonomous entity. Dodik subsequently signed off on the legislation.
