Munira Abu Hagag, a Bosnian citizen stuck in Gaza, was unable to get the permission for evacuation along with her children, also the citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina. Speaking to N1, she said that the situation is “getting worse and worse every day.”
Munira has been living in Gaza Strip for years. Originally from the central Bosnian town of Tesanj, she has been waiting near the Rafah border crossing with her daughter and son to leave the territory with other foreign nationals. However, she was not allowed that.
“We live in fear every day, it is getting worse and worse every day. Life is becoming a hell, we have no water, power, and we are running out of food. There is nowhere to buy and what is left is too expensive. We fear for our loved ones. We submitted the request with the Embassy of Bosnia and Herzegovina in Egypt, they sent the request to Israel and they told us our names were rejected. We are just civilians. We have nothing to do with military or politics. We ask our Ministry of Foreign Affairs to help us. We beg all who can help us to do that,” she said.
A total of 36 Bosnian nationals were evacuated during the last night from Gaza Strip via Rafah border crossing to Egypt, while six persons from the list did not show up at the border crossing.

“Our embassy adviced us to resend the request, and we did. They told us to wait a few days for these people to leave. They took our Bosnians and some Arab families who don't have our citizenship, we couldn't leave and we do have the citizenship. We don't know why…There is no reason for them to deny the permission to leave. Were begging for help”, she said.
The Bosnian Embassy in Egypt requested the evacuation of a total of 54 persons from Gaza, including 29 nationals of Bosnia and Herzegovina and their close relatives. Israeli authorities allowed the evacuation for 42 persons from the list.
