Bosnian MPs in Belgrade: Serbia is closest partner

This is the beginning of a new era in mutual relations in the region, the era marking the cooperation of peoples and prosperity, said Speaker of Bosnia's House of Representatives Mladen Bosic following a meeting with Speaker of the Serbian Parliament Maja Gojkovic in Belgrade on Wednesday.

A delegation of both chambers of Bosnia's bicameral parliament, namely the House of Peoples and the House of Representatives, have started a two-day visit to Belgrade, where they are set to hold meetings with senior officials of Serbia.

Speaker of the House of Peoples Ognjen Tadic thanked the Parliament of Serbia for being “a really good friend” to the Bosnian Parliament in terms of the accession to the European Union. The current election campaign in Bosnia, Tadic added, did not prevent them from showing that all three peoples in Bosnia were interested in “as good relations with Serbia as possible.”

Bosnian Parliament's delegation will meet during the visit to Belgrade with Serbian Prime Minister Ana Brnabic and President Aleksandar Vucic respectively.

Speaker of Serbian Parliament Gojkovic also addressed the media following the Wednesday meeting, saying that the dialogue between the two parliaments and their symbolic messages were the best way to observe the Victory Day.

“Serbia sincerely supports Bosnia's efforts to become a part of the European Union and Bosnia will get Serbia's support in that,” said Gojkovic, adding that Bosnia is Serbia's closest partner and neighbour.

Besides Tadic and Bosic, deputy speakers Safet Softic, Sefik Dzaferovic, Barisa Colak and Borjana Kristo also take part in Bosnian Parliament's delegation.
