Thousands of Bosnians visited the Banja Luka job fair on Thursday, looking for opportunities to leave the country, which is exactly what 20 Slovenian companies had to offer.

“We’re looking for drivers, reliable, honest workers. Our monthly salaries are good, stable and on time – good pay for a good day’s work,” Slovenia’s Eurotek company representatives told N1.

According to Slovenian entrepreneur Danica Staric, salaries in slovenia range between € 800 and € 1,300.

The said fair in the northern Bosnian city of Banja Luka hosted companies looking for waiters, drivers, electrical engineers, cleaners, welders, mail carriers, etc.

“We’ve had 20 Slovenian exhibitors, entrepreneurs, looking for more than 150 workers,” Spele Eruc from the Slovenian employment portal Mojedelo.com, said.

Last year, Slovenian alone issued more than 14,000 working visas for Bosnian citizens, which means that the number of people who legally left the country is that of the number of residents of Nevesinje Municipality, or the Municipality of Donji Vakuf.

The decision to leave the country was not easy, but it was mostly affected by the economic situation. Slovenia will probably offer them double the salary they would receive in Bosnia, but another reason for leaving the country is its unfavourable political situation.
