Bosnia's Court requests international arrest warrant for war crimes defendant

On Monday, Vrucinic’s lawyer, Branko Gudalo, told the Court that his client told him he is leaving the country for Serbia since he feels he did not have a fair trial.
"On Saturday at 9 am, he (Vrucinic) came to my office and told me: 'Tell the Court that I’m going to Serbia, because I did not have a fair trial,'" Gudalo said.
After the Court found out that Vrucinic crossed the eastern Raca border crossing on August 30, it ordered a warrant to be issued and forwarded the order to Interpol as well, the Balkan Investigative Reporting Network (BIRN) reported.
The Court also ordered police in Banja Luka to detain Vrucinic and when officers arrived at his home, his wife told them that Vrucinic left for Serbia and that she does not know when he might return.
Vrucinic, a former chief of the Public Security Station and a member of the wartime Crisis Committee in Sanski Most, is charged with participating in a joint criminal enterprise which was involved in killings, forced resettlement, illegal detentions and forcible disappearances.
The trial of Vrucinic began on April 22, 2015. The defence was only left to present its closing arguments before the trial was to end.
