Scandalous messages of President of Bosnia's Republika Srpska entity Milorad Dodik about a “peaceful dissolution” and about the “non-existence of the future of Bosnia and Herzegovina” should be taken as a threat to the peace and independence of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bosnia Presidency Chairman Denis Becirovic said in response to Dodik's address before Republika Srpska entity parliament on Thursday.

Dodik should know that the idea of “peaceful dissolution” is a dangerous illusion, Becirovic stressed, adding that Bosnia and Herzegovina has a secure future.

“If the future of Bosnia and Herzegovina depended on Dodik and politicians like him, our country would have neither the present nor the future,” he said.

Commenting on Dodik's objections towards the decision of High Representative Christian Schmidt, the Presidency Chairman said that Schmidt is a legitimate High Representative, “whose competences and legal status were confirmed by the international and national laws.”

“The Dayton Peace Agreement is not a buffet table from which the leaders of the BiH entity Republika Srpska can take whatever they want. It is an international agreement that must be implemented integrally and consistently,” he underlined.

Becirovic also “strongly condemned” Dodik's inappropriate attacks on the US, the UK and Germany, stressing that these countries, as well as numerous others around Europe and the world, are “proven friends of multi-ethnic Bosnia and Herzegovina and all its citizens and peoples.”

Dodik sets ultimatum, demands that UK, US, German ambassadors are expelled and declared “enemies of Bosnia and Herzegovina”

He then warned that the leadership of Republika Srpska entity “continue jeopardising the peace, independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity of BiH.” Their policies of breaking the country apart is no longer hidden by the entity president who openly advocates it, according to Becirovic.

“Therefore, once and for all, the leaders of the BiH entity Republika Srpska should stop deceiving the domestic and international public that the High Representative is violating the sovereignty of Bosnia and Herzegovina. That is the most common falsehood. It is true that the High Representative protects the peace, security and sovereignty of Bosnia and Herzegovina, and the authorities of the BiH entity Republika Srpska directly threaten the peace and sovereignty of Bosnia and Herzegovina”, he said.

As for the country's European path, the Presidency Chairman said this process is endangered by the “irresponsible separatist policy” in Republika Srpska.

“That path is incompatible with the anti-constitutional and anti-European policy of the authorities of the BiH entity Republika Srpska, and not with the clearly established international mandate and duties of the High Representative,” he added.

Becirovic concluded that the sovereignty of the state of Bosnia and Herzegovina is clearly defined by the Dayton Peace Agreement and the Constitution of BiH.

“It undoubtedly belongs only to the state of Bosnia and Herzegovina. There is no entity sovereignty and such an unfounded thesis has no legal basis in the Dayton Peace Agreement and the Constitution of Bosnia and Herzegovina, as well as in international law,” he added.
