BiH Presidency member Denis Becirovic met in London with the Chair of the UK Parliament's Committee on Foreign Affairs, Alicia Kearns and spoke about the threats to peace and security in Bosnia and Herzegovina, as well as defining specific responses to the separatist moves of irresponsible politicians from the BiH entity Republika Srpska (RS).

Becirovic also had a series of important meetings with high-ranking British officials behind closed doors, during the day.

Becirovic emphasized, among other things, that Bosnia is at a turning point and that the extreme and anti-Dayton policy of the RS President Milorad Dodik called into question the peace and security that had been painstakingly built for the past three decades.

Kearns said that, as a guarantor of the Dayton Peace Agreement, the United Kingdom is ready to prevent threats to peace in BiH and the Dayton Peace Agreement with its allies. She noted that the United Kingdom has been committed to Bosnia’s security and prosperity since its independence.

During the meeting, the importance of deepening cooperation between BiH and the UK, with the aim of improving bilateral relations, was stressed.

The All-party Group for BiH has been active in the current convocation of the UK Parliament since mid-July 2020 and is made up of members of both houses, coming from three main political options: Labour, Conservatives and Liberal Democrats. Alicia Kerns is the Chair of the All-Party Group for BiH.

Becirovic will continue his working visit on Tuesday with talks with the highest officials of the UK Government. He is planning to meet with the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Commonwealth and Development, the Minister of Armed Forces, the UK Special Envoy for the Western Balkans and other officials.
