BiH’s Defence Minister, Zukan Helez, is attending the commemoration organised on the 31st anniversary of the massacres in the village of Ahmici. He emphasized that such and similar crimes must not be forgotten and that they should be talked about, that fascism has not been eradicated and that the fight between anti-fascists and fascists is still ongoing.

“What hurts me as a human being is that… it seems to me that those people who should understand that the most terrible crime was committed by those among their group still have not understood that. Considering the acceptance of criminals and convicted war criminals such as Dario Kordic by some politicians in Bosnia and Herzegovina and giving importance to those politicians, it seems to me that the people or the representatives of those people still have not cleared up the crimes and did not understand what happened in 1993. in Ahmici and in some other parts of BiH”, he said.

He also mentioned the activities of the President of BiH’s Republika Srpska (RS) entity, arguing that what he is doing in the country with the support of Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic is cause for caution.

“The denial of genocide and the involvement of an entire people by calling on those people to defend themselves against allegations of genocide somehow seems to me as an attempt to involve the entire nation, which is not good. No nation can be genocidal. So we have to be careful,” Helez said.

He also said that it is necessary to introduce military training in secondary schools, arguing that children do not know how to handle firearms.
