During 4.3 hours of flight operations, the helicopter dropped a total of 22,000 litres of water on the affected area while operating in extremely difficult conditions.
The helicopter was deployed in accordance with an order by Bosnia and Herzegovina’s Defence Minister and a previous decision by the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
“The Armed Forces of Bosnia and Herzegovina, through their engagement at wildfire sites across the country, continuously provide assistance in protecting the lives and property of citizens, as well as Bosnia and Herzegovina’s natural resources,” the Armed Forces said.
An Air Tractor aircraft also took part in efforts to contain the wildfire.
The fire is currently not threatening residential buildings, but emergency services remain on alert due to the difficult and inaccessible terrain where the blaze remains active.
