Economic expert Drasko Acimovic warned that the huge drop in foreign investments last year and the departure of foreign businesses have put Bosnia and Herzegovina in a zone of high security risk.
“Countries that invest in a certain foreign area try to keep that area peaceful. We don't have that – we are becoming more and more vulnerable and we are getting into an increasingly dangerous situation”, emphasized Acimovic, adding that this kind of unpreparedness is particularly dangerous due to the current geopolitical circumstances caused by the aggression against Ukraine.
Recently, some of the world's largest pharmaceutical companies, Glaxo, AstraZeneca and Sanofi, have left BiH, which Acimovic warned is a “terrible signal”.
Mcdonald's also left last year, which means BiH is among the few European countries without this fast food chain.
“McDonalds is not just a fast food chain, it is a specific category for measuring statistical data worldwide.” he said, adding that such investors opt for other countries, such as Serbia, “where they will employ thousands of people and receive aid subsidies and all the documents they need from the state.”
“We don't allow that and we are only getting into an even bigger problem,” Acimovic said.
Such developments will also limit the impact on prices and product quality, he warned.
