Lana Pudar sets nine new national records at Bosnia's swimming championships

After taking bronze at the World Championships in Abu Dhabi, three medals at the European Junior Championships in Rome, as well as bronze Kazan, Pudar also became the country’s champion in all six disciplines she participated in at the state championships and broke nine national records.

The Open Championship of Bosnia and Herzegovina was the last competition for the 15-year-old from Mostar, whose name could often be found in local media throughout this year due to her enormous success.

“I became a state champion in all six disciplines which I competed in, and those are the disciplines; 100, 200 and 400 meters crawl, as well as 50, 100 and 200 meters backstroke. I set 9 new state records, four of which are in the absolute category (50m crawl, 100m crawl, 400m crawl, 50m backstroke) and five state records in the junior category (50m crawl, 100m crawl, 400m crawl, 50m backstroke, 100m backstroke). I also won two silver medals in the 4x50m freestyle and 4 × 50m mixed relays,” Pudar wrote on social media.

She wrote that she will be taking a short break and then start preparations for the new season.

“I know that I have a very hard and hard work ahead of me in the months ahead, but I firmly believe that the best is yet to come and I am looking forward to the new swimming season,” she wrote.

“I would like to once again thank everyone who was with me, my team and my family on this amazing journey in 2021. I hope that we will all look forward to it next year,” she added, wishing “all dear people in the homeland and abroad a happy and successful New Year 2022.”
