The ceremony reached an emotional peak when 13 individuals who had successfully undergone medical treatment through the assistance of Pomozi.ba surprised Karalic by appearing on stage. This symbolic gesture underscored the real-world impact of the organization's mission.
In his address, Karalic moved away from statistics, focusing instead on the human element of his work.
"Helping is our repayment of a debt to life, because none of us knows what tomorrow brings," he stated. "Pomozi.ba is not Elvir Karalic. We are only the extended hand of all the good people our country has. We are the bridge you built with your kindness."

Karalic dedicated the award to his team, his family, specifically his wife Aida, and the countless donors, ranging from retirees to children, who have supported the organization's appeals. He emphasized that the greatest reward remains the news of a child’s recovery or the relief of a person finding hope again.

While Karalic was the primary focus of the evening, the City Council also presented other high honours. The Obala Art Center received the collective April 6th Award for its contributions to culture. City Plaques were awarded to Dr. Claudia Zini and journalist Arijana Saracevic Helac, while the "Sarajevo Snowflake" Diploma went to musician Omar Halilovic. Additionally, US Senator Cynthia Jeanne Shaheen, Dayton City Commissioner Matt Joseph and journalist Eric Hauck were recognized as honorary citizens.
The event was attended by City Council Chair Alen Girt, Mayor Samir Avdic and representatives from the diplomatic corps and international community, all gathered to celebrate the resilience and spirit of Sarajevo.
