A study on the use of information and communication technologies (ICT) in the Federation of BiH (FBiH) entity for 2024, conducted by the FBiH Bureau of Statistics, shows that 74.1% of households own a computer, 82.3% have internet access, 98.8% own a TV, and 96.1% have a cell phone.
In the past three months, 71.9% of individuals used a computer, 83.3% accessed the Internet, and 30.5% of Internet users made online purchases.
The study highlights the difference between urban and other settlements, with 74.9% of urban households owning a computer compared to 73.5% in other areas. Similarly, 84.2% of urban households have internet access, compared to 80.8% in non-urban areas.
Regarding online shopping, 30.5% of internet users made purchases, with slightly more men (31.3%) than women (29.7%) participating.
In terms of internet usage, 99.2% used it for communication, 86.2% for information, 65.1% for entertainment, 59.5% for health information, and 21.7% for civic or political participation.
In the business sector, all companies surveyed have internet access and 100% use fixed broadband. Additionally, 69.4% of businesses have websites, a 2.7% increase from 2023, while 28.1% engage in online sales, a 0.6% rise.
Social media use among businesses is also significant: 63.1% use platforms like Facebook or LinkedIn, 21.8% use Twitter, and 17.2% use YouTube. Moreover, 31.7% hold online meetings, and 72.5% of businesses have access to email, while around 34% access company documents or business applications online.
