Police apprehended several persons on Wednesday in connection with the shooting and death of a businessman's son that took place in Istocno Sarajevo (East Sarajevo) a day before, according to the Srna news agency.

30-year-old Milos Ostojic was shot late Tuesday night in front of a bar in Istocno Sarajevo and he succumbed to injuries soon after he was hospitalised.

Ostojic was “murdered in a classic ambush,” according to Head of Istocno Novo Sarajevo Municipality Ljubisa Cosic, who urged the competent agencies to find the perpetrator(s) as soon as possible.

The Interior Ministry of Republika Srpska (RS), Bosnia's semi-autonomous part which covers Istocno Sarajevo area, briefly confirmed they apprehended several suspects that might be connected to the shooting and Ostojic's death, and that they were undergoing a criminal investigation.

Police issued no report confirming the connection, but news agencies speculated that arrest of two persons from a car with Montenegrin plates, which Sarajevo police intercepted on Wednesday, was linked to the Istocno Sarajevo shooting.

According to Patria news agency, the RS Ministry of Interior asked Sarajevo police to help them find a suspicious car and driver which may be connected to Ostojic's death.

Acting on a request of Istocno Sarajevo Police Precinct, Sarajevo Canton Interior Ministry officers intercepted a car with Montenegrin plates and apprehended a man and a woman from the vehicle, police spokesperson Suvada Kuldija told N1, unveiling no detail as to whether the apprehended persons were connected to the shooting in which Ostojic died.
