BiH consumer prices jump 4.3% annually in October, food and housing lead surge

On a month-over-month basis, consumer prices in BiH were 0.4 percent higher in October 2025 compared to September, according to data released by the Agency for Statistics of BiH.

Analyzing the annual trend (October 2025 vs. October 2024), the 4.3 percent price increase affected nearly all consumption sectors. The largest average price increases were recorded in: Food and non-alcoholic beverages (up 6.9 percent), Restaurants and hotels (up 7.8 percent), Housing and utilities (up 5.2 percent), Health (up 5.5 percent), Recreation and culture (up 4.7 percent)

Other sections that saw price increases included "Alcoholic beverages and tobacco" (3.8 percent), "Furniture, household appliances and regular home maintenance" (1.8 percent), "Communications" (1.7 percent), "Education" (3.3 percent), and "Miscellaneous goods and services" (2.5 percent).

The only category to register an average price drop year-over-year was "Clothing and footwear," which fell by 8.2 percent.

Monthly breakdown

Compared to the previous month (September 2025), the 0.4 percent monthly increase was largely attributable to a 2.0 percent rise in the "Housing and utilities" sector. Other monthly increases were seen in: "Clothing and footwear" (0.9 percent), "Transport" (0.5 percent), "Furniture, household appliances and regular home maintenance" (0.3 percent), "Health" (0.2 percent), "Restaurants and hotels" (0.2 percent), "Alcoholic beverages and tobacco" (0.1 percent), and "Education" (0.1 percent).

Small monthly price decreases were noted in "Recreation and culture" (down 0.1 percent) and "Miscellaneous goods and services" (down 0.2 percent).
