Numerous officials from Bosnia and Herzegovina sent messages of support to Turkey’s President, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, after the devastating earthquake that struck the southeastern part of the country on Monday morning.
The 7.8-magnitude earthquake caused massive damage, killing more than 600 and injuring thousands in Turkey and Syria.
The Chairperson of the BiH Council of Ministers, Borjana Kristo, sent a telegram to Erdogan and the Turkish people.
“Personally and on behalf of the Council of Ministers of Bosnia and Herzegovina, I express my sincere condolences to you, the families of the victims and the Turkish people on the occasion of the devastating earthquake that hit your country. Bosnia and Herzegovina stands by you and you can always count on our friendly support. Please convey your condolences and support to the families of the victims,” said a message the Chairwoman of Bosnia’s Council of Ministers sent to Erdogan.
“I express my deepest condolences to Turkiye for the loss of life and destruction caused by the devastating earthquake. My thoughts are with those affected, injured and families of those who have lost their lives”, the Foreign Affairs Minister, Elmedin Konakovic, wrote on Twitter.
The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Denis Zvizdic, sent a message to the President of the Turkish Grand National Assembly, Mustafa Sentop.
“It is with great sadness that I received the news of the terrible tragedy caused by the earthquake in your country, in which hundreds of your citizens died. I send you my most sincere condolences. I ask you to convey sincere condolences to the families of those killed, and wishes for a speedy recovery to the injured citizens. My thoughts are with you and your citizens”, it said.
The leader of the Party of Democratic Action (SDA), Bakir Izetbegovic, also expressed his condolences on Twitter.
“Deeply saddened by the news of numerous casualties and destruction as a result of the strong earthquake in Turkiye. I extend my deepest condolences to Recep Tayyip Erdogan and people of Turkiye,” he wrote.
Milorad Dodik, the president of Bosnia’s Republika Srpska (RS) entity, expressed his “deepest condolences for the lives lost in the devastating earthquake in Turkiye and Syria that claimed hundreds of lives” on Twitter, offering help from the RS entity.
