The President of Bosnia’s Republika Srpska (RS) entity, Milorad Dodik, claimed at a press conference Friday that USAID directed funds to influence elections in Bosnia and Herzegovina, asserting that he has precise information on the matter.

“Before the previous elections, I warned that ‘death threatens some.’ This was related to a money-laundering scheme,” Dodik stated.

He alleged that most of the funds ended up in the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina (FBiH), while some were also channelled to media outlets in Republika Srpska (RS).

Dodik questioned past efforts to introduce election scanners, claiming, “The only ones pushing for it were the absolute losers of the elections and those trying to rig them, including Ambassador Murphy. There were so many issues when we opposed it. They suspended the Constitution for a day. USAID spent $402 million and achieved much because political stances are bought with money here.”

He announced plans to instruct Republika Srpska’s Ministry of Internal Affairs to investigate the issue.

“Today, I will order a full investigation. We will see this through. I am grateful to US President Donald Trump for initiating this wave of change. Until now, we only had obedient followers—those who dared to oppose were sanctioned. With Trump's arrival, the world is breaking free, and the US will restore its democratic significance, which had been deeply mired in crime and corruption,” Dodik stated.

He also noted that no irregularities were reported in the 147 locations where election scanners were used. “But that was not enough for them, so they continued destabilizing Bosnia and Herzegovina,” he added.

Dodik highlighted that the US Department of Justice had launched criminal proceedings against three officials and USAID for alleged election interference in the Philippines.

Following Trump's decision to freeze USAID activities, both Dodik and Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic supported the move.

USAID has funded organizations, projects, and media for years promoting free speech, democracy, and social inclusion. Support for Trump’s decision from the RS and Serbia may be seen as political alignment with the newly elected US president. Dodik has repeatedly suggested that Trump’s return could facilitate Republika Srpska’s secession.

Meanwhile, Dodik, his close associates, and family members remain on the US sanctions list for undermining the Dayton Agreement, corruption, and personal wealth accumulation.
