Those who bring flowers to some monuments, or glorify Ratko Mladic, the Republika Srpska Army general responsible for the Srebrenica genocide, cannot expect that they will not face sanctions, High Representative in Bosnia and Herzegovina Christian Schmidt told N1 at Potocari Memorial, on the occasion of the 27th Srebrenica genocide anniversary.
“I would prefer it if the Parliamentary Assembly of BiH passed such a law that meets the standards. Whoever wants to justify or glorify genocide should be criminally sanctioned,” said Schmidt.
He added that in the coming period, he will be engaged in the patter of history textbooks in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Schmidt pointed to the problem that Serb children in the Republika Srpska (RS) entity, as well as children of different nationalities in the Federation (FBiH) entity, have different history textbooks.
“I come from a country in which we know that this is necessary, and because of that, in the coming period, people will be able to expect me to get more involved in this matter,” Schmidt said.
"It is problematic that Serb children in RS, children in FBH, depending on whether they are Bosniaks or Croats, have different history textbooks. It is important to look the ugly things from history in the eye," High Representative Schmidt marking Srebrenica genocide anniversary. https://t.co/mMRFj8qyiz
